A manifesto for Film stars headed political parties to gain votes

Tamil Nadu has the distinction of electing Chief Minister who are from the film industry. It has been now close to 50 years the Chief Ministers are from the Tamil film industry also know as Kollywood to some. Right from M Karunanidhi who is one of the founder of DMK to his son M K Stalin have contributed to the growth of film industry in Tamil Nadu. M Karunanidhi wrote script and dialogues for films. M G Ramachandran popularly know as MGR was the matinee idol. He ruled the hearts of the Tamilians, first through films and later on as Chief Minister. His stint was followed by J Jayalalitha. There was a lull in between, till the current Chief Minister M K Stalin took the oath of office for Chief Minister. He too has acted in films. 

Recently, popular Tamil actor Kamal Hasaan, launched his own party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). He contested the 2019 Assembly election, but failed to bag seats. Before him, it was actor Vijaykant through his party Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK). He too contested the 2019 Assembly election. Initially he was successful, but in the 2019 Assembly election, he too failed to bag seats. The All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi by actor Sarathkumar too failed to bag seat in 2019 Assembly election.

Then there is Seeman with his Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK). He is gaining popularity among the youngster. He too failed to bag seat in 2019 Assembly election. He has brought in a new wave in Dravidian dominated election campaign. His campaign is on Tamil identity. 

All these parties promises freebies like giving kitchen equipment(s) - mixer, grinders or TVs, laptops. But none of the offer a role in film. None of them promises Film City in each and every district of Tamil Nadu. None of them offer internship in direction or motion photograph. None of them offer a free coaching on script writing. Then there are the location selectors, cooks, drivers, the helpers, the lighting guys, the designers. The list goes on. We can add 25-50 more things.

Unlike in past when movies were released only of theatre and cinema halls, nowadays is it released in Over The Top (OTT) platforms like Netfix, Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video. In fact there are many close to 100. Then there is Youtube. All these platforms offers excellent opportunities to showcase one's talent.

All these emerging platforms and existing platforms offer good employment opportunities and can provide employment to lakhs, if not more. 

For the next Assembly Election, if the Film stars headed political parties have to gain electorates, they have to promise something new, and what's better promise than being a part of film making  process

Sangili Boothathar - The Guardian Deity - My Kuladeivam

The story of the origin of Sangili Boothathar is associated with Samudra Manthan (the Churning of the Ocean). To get the nectar of immortality (Amrit) from the Sea, Devas and Asuras started churning the Ocean. This happened when the whole Continents were one and the seas too were one. The History of Paraiyan / Paraiyar - An Analysis

Lets get the fact correct. Paraiyans / Paraiyars are not mentioned in the Sangam era as per Wikipedia. The earliest mention of Paraiyan / Paraiyars   / Paraiyars   is in the 11th Century, ie, during the Chola period. It is well documented that Chola kings conquered many territories. Sambavars: Their Journey from 10th Century

  I took a Google search on Sambavar and it was a link I click that lead me to this interesting discovery I did a Google search on Sambavar, and one of the links I clicked led me to this interesting discovery. I came across the earliest recorded person to be identified as belonging to the Sambavar caste. His name is Maharasan Vedamanickam and he was born in 1763 and he died in 1827.   After a long time, to be precise more than 20 years, I travelled to my native place. Then after a gap of year or so, I travelled to my native place. Paraiyan (Paraiyar) History - Few unknown and known facts

The earliest mention of Paraiyan / Paraiyar is in the 11 th century, ie, during the Chola period. It was during this time Chola power was at its zenith. Their rule extended from present day Tamil Nadu to as far as part of Bengal in the East. The Chola kings constructed huge temples. Chess it is a way of life now

There were many reasons that kept me away from my village. Then one fine day, I landed after 20 years, on my village. On the material front, lots of changes were there, the cycles have been replaced by the scoots, bikes and in some cases by cars too. But, mentally and physically I did not noticed much difference 20 years back and now. Back then for to pass time, youngsters (including me) use to play cards and now too they are playing cards for timepass. Sometime money too in involved. My Fond Memories

It has long been I had not visited my village and finally one fine day in this March I packed my baggage, took a train from Mumbai to my village. Here in this blog I have detailed the then and now scenario of my village as I observed. The mud roads have given way to tar roads. The sarees are now been replaced by nighty. The government school has fewer students, as parents are opting for English medium school. There are plenty of vehicles. Fifty percent of the household have cars / four wheeler, while 100 per cent household have two wheelers, either scooty or bike. Almost all houses have more than two two-wheelers, while in some there are three two-wheelers. There are few houses which are very huge in size. All the houses are well painted. Thoughts to pounder on...Lord Shiva’s marriage, Tirunelveli, Parashurama Kshetra, Kanyakumari

I always wonder are the mythological stories a myth or it is a fact? Hailing from Tirunelveli, my mind wonders when I read, re-read and think about Lord Shiva’s marriage. The story goes thus; Lord Shiva has invited the whole universe (including gods, goddess, bhootas, aasuras, and others) for his marriage with Goddess Pravati at Mount Kailash. It is not often we meet Tamilians in Mumbai. Recently while travelling in Mumbai's Local Train / Mumbai Suburban Train, I had the opportunity to meet a Tamilian who was sitting beside me.  We had a friendly chat and in the course of the chat, I discovered he is not only from my district but also from a nearby village.
